September is Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds Collection Month. This year’s slogan is “Help Us, Help Them”
WILLEMSTAD - From 1949, The Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds PWF), a Curaçao foundation, has given support and guidance to cancer patients and their families. On September 1st PWF officially starts its collection month, and, with Government permission, it will reach out to the Community for financial contributions. It is supported exclusively by the private sector. With the funds received, PWF can cover expenses incurred for support of Curaçao’s cancer patients, increase awareness of this disease, and give direct aid to those afflicted.
Collectors are properly identifiable
During the month of September PWF collectors will visit companies and businesses to collect their contributions. The PWF collectors and collaborators with their red and grey collection boxes will be in supermarkets and other commercial establishments accepting donations from the community. All PWF collectors are properly identifiable. If you have any doubts, ask to see their I.D. You can also call the Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds at 461-1998. PWF will also call local companies discuss the different ways to contribute.
Give what you can to help us do what we do
The collected funds must cover all operating expenses, including: salaries of Social Workers who support and guide the cancer patients; transportation for cancer patients of limited means to go to Doctor, Chemotherapy and Radiology appointments; and, the purchase and supply of hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers, breast prostheses, and crutches;
PWF also has an important role of producing, disseminating and facilitating information material so the entire community can continue to be aware of different aspects of cancer. Thanks to these funds PWF can give therapy and recreational opportunities to patients. It is important to mention that all Board Members perform their work as volunteers.
Help Us, Help Them
The commitment and responsibility of Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds are huge. As you can see from the summary of our activities above, PWF does many things for all cancer patients in our Community.
Of critical importance to remember is that the majority of the services that the PWF provides are free of charge. This means no cancer patient or their families must pay for these services, and those who could not pay at all will still receive unrestricted aid and comfort from PWF.
The more you as a citizen can give to PWF, the more PWF can do for our cancer patients, their families, and our Community. The more you help PWF, the more PWF can help them.
