Restart production oil refinery only after cleaning
WILLEMSTAD – The production of the oil refinery Isla can only be restarted when the waste is removed from the chimneys. This is according to an explanation given by the spokesperson of the Refineria di Korsou Earl Balborda.
Due to the power outage last week Friday, the asphalt was not cooled enough and it started to clump. “We do not yet know how long this will take. For example, computers have crashed and other equipment have been damaged.”
According to Balborda, the costs of cleaning the chimneys can no longer be recovered from CRU, which was responsible for stopping the electricity supply. A maximum amount has been set which can be recovered by the refinery from CRU and that amount has already been exceeded years ago.
The CRU crashed Friday with a broken transformer causing a power outage and they had to stop the supply of electricity and water to the refinery. The refinery is totally dependent on the CRU for that matter.
