Questions Van Raak MP about compensation Dutch top official in Curaçao
WILLEMSTAD - The Member of the Dutch Parliament for the Socialist Party Ronald van Raak asked some questions to the Ministers of the Interior and the Undersecretary of Kingdom Relations about the recent news surrounding a Dutch top official in Curaçao.
1 Why was it decided to grant a top civil servant a foreign allowance while the place of residence was in the Netherlands?
2 Why do you think it good that the civil servant received a compensation of 2,319 euros per day for 18 days of work in 9 months?
3 Do you find it in retrospect that deviated from the guidelines of the ministry? If so, why? If not, what are you going to do about this?
4 Can you promise that the excess amount received will be recovered? If not, why not?
5 Do you share my concerns that this kind of behavior affects the credibility of the Netherlands on the islands? If not, why not?
The Socialist MP referred to Henk Brons, who was representative of the Netherlands on Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten between 1 January 2015 and 1 July 2018. He is currently Director-General Kingdom Relations at the Ministry of the Interior.
