Ninth member of Advisory Council sworn in by Governor
WILLEMSTAD - On Thursday, May 3, Mr. Luigi Virginia sworn in as a member of the Advisory Board. He has taken his oath before the Governor of Curaçao, Her Excellency Lucille George-Wout.
Mr. Virginia obtained the title of master in law at the University of Leiden in 1999 and has extensive legal knowledge and experience. Since 1999 he has been working as a lawyer at the law firm HBN Law and is since 2008 a partner. Mr. Virginia has various additional positions, including his membership with the Board of Trustees on the Curaçao Bar Association (Disciplinary Court). Furthermore, in the past, he has been associated with various training institutes as a part-time teacher.
With the appointment of Mr. Virginia, the Board has nine members. The core task of the Advisory Council is to advise on matters of legislation and administration. The government hears the Advisory Council - obliged - about, among other things, draft regulations that it intends to offer to parliament and draft national decrees, containing general measures, which it intends to adopt. In addition, the Council also advises parliament on draft national regulations before they take them into consideration.
