Minister Camelia-Römer presents her X-team
WILLEMSTAD - With some delay, Minister Suzy Camelia-Römer of Health, Environment and Nature presented her X-team at a press conference yesterday afternoon.
This X-team consists of various stakeholders who have to improve the environment in Curaçao. Part of the X-team include the Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature, the Healthcare Inspectorate, the Public Prosecution Service, Police and Public Works. The team will focus on prevention, enforcement, investigation and legal actions against the polluters.
The X-team will use drones to detect environmental violations, including the dumping of construction waste, household goods and dead animals.
The drones will be deployed in places where waste is regularly dumped, such as along the road from Brievengat to Playa Kanoa and the route from the beach to Ronde Klip, as well as Koraal Tabak, Sint Joris and the Fuik area.
The images generated by the drones are the first evidences against the polluters and could serve as the basis for the police and judicial investigation, said Minister Camelia-Römer.
