Million kilos of garbage cleared at World Clean Up Day; many new participants in cleaning action
WILLEMSTAD - Some 3000 volunteers collected a record amount of waste In Curaçao on Saturday during World Clean Up Day. The last containers of waste have been brought to the landfill today, with which the organization expects to arrive at about 1,000,000 kilos. The organization speaks with this milestone of a great success and a clear signal that the population wants a clean Curaçao.
In this edition, special attention was paid to the various neighborhoods In Curaçao, where people went out into the streets in large numbers to make their own environment nice and tidy. Neighborhoods such as Santa Rosa, Suffisant, Otrobanda, Kanga and Dein have undergone a true metamorphosis thanks to their own residents. The organization is very pleased with the many new participants who have committed themselves this year to a clean Curacao, which shows that more and more people consider a clean island important and are tired of pollution.
