McDonald’s Curaçao prepares for ‘Great Day’ 2018
On that date, McDonald’s Curaçao donates all Big Mac proceeds in benefit of Funditut (Stichting Jeugdcentrale Curaçao) and the local chapter of Ronald McDonald House Charities.
WILLEMSTAD - On Monday, November 26th, McDonald’s annual trademark fundraising event 'Great Day' will take place in Curaçao. During this day all proceeds of Big Mac sales from all McDonald’s restaurants in Curaçao will go to Funditut (Stichting Jeugdcentrale Curaçao) and Ronald McDonald House Charities Curaçao.
This signature event reinforces McDonald’s commitment to make a positive impact in local communities, by supporting initiatives enhancing young people’s access to better opportunities for their future and helping families to stay close when they need it the most.
“At McDonald’s we believe in youth and we are working not only to give them the opportunities to grow at our restaurants, but also supporting a local non-profit organization like Funditut, which focus on training young people on skills that will help them to be independent and hopefully find a way of living” said Jennifer Poulina, Market Manager for McDonald’s in Curaçao. “On the other hand, we’ve been a long-time ally of Ronald McDonald House of Charities, because of their outstanding work keeping families close when they need a home away from home” Poulina added.
The vision of Funditut is to give young people a chance to become a skilled worker and full-fledged participant in our society. To achieve this, Funditut offers customized and practical oriented one-on-one learning activities to the youngsters, to develop their talents and competences. At the end of the trajectory they will acquire the necessary tools to lead to sustainable employment opportunities. This initiative corresponds with the commitment of Arcos Dorados, operator of McDonald’s in Latin America and the Caribbean, to reduce barriers to employment for Two-Million Young People by 2025, worldwide. By including Funditut in this year’s trademark event ‘Great Day’, McDonald’s hopes to actively contribute to creating opportunities for youth employment on the island.
Ronal McDonald House of Charities (RMHC) is an independent foundation which has been serving children and their families in Curaçao since April 2012. Through the Ronald McDonald Family Room, one of its three core programs, RMHC has served more than 9,500 families to date.
McDonald’s, RMHC Curaçao and Funditut invite everyone on Curaçao to celebrate ‘Great Day’ on November 26th by visiting one of the McDonald’s restaurants, enjoying Big Mac’s and having fun, while working together to reach a goal.
From 8am McDonald’s customers will be welcomed at all McDonald’s restaurants in Curaçao to show their support for Funditut (Stichting Jeugdcentrale Curaçao) and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
During ‘Great Day’ clients of the foundations will be present at McDonald’s Santa Maria to join in on the fun activities of that day.
At this particular restaurant, there will be several activities where clients and ambassadors of the foundations can engage with McDonald’s customers. “This is very important since the experience will show in full the impact and contribution McDonald’s aims for with this initiative,” stated Jennifer Poulina ‘‘and we hope that the public of Curaçao will help us surpass the amount raised last year on Great Day!’’.
