MAN’s faction in Parliament requests meeting to discuss government’s policy on children’s welfare
WILLEMSTAD - Recently the Government of Curaçao has announced several austerity measures, including a cut in the subsidies for various foundations. Also for those foundations that work for the benefit of children on the island.
The MAN faction is aware of the financial situation of the island but believes that when it’s about a child, the government must consider its decision.
The MAN faction is also aware that the government cannot continue subsidizing foundations and organizations that do not follow the rules like presenting a financial report on how they spend public funds. The annual report must be submitted as prescribed by law.
The government must guarantee that the limited public funds go to organizations that really use them for the agreed objective such as the welfare of children of the island.
This is why the MAN MPs make an appeal to the government not to decrease the funds for these organizations in the 2019 budget.
