Liens from Ballast Nedam on Sona and financial institutions lifted
WILLEMSTAD – The third-party attachment placed by Ballast Nedam International on the financial institution Sona under the government, the Central Bank and various local banks was lifted yesterday by the Court of First Instance in a summary proceeding.
In total, it was 31 million dollars. The seizure was granted by the court on April 6 this year, but it cannot be imposed again after yesterday’s ruling.
Ballast Nedam, builder of the new hospital, had ordered the seizure because it has little confidence that funding organization Sona has sufficient resources for the remaining construction project.
The court ruled yesterday that so far Sona has fulfilled its obligations and that nothing has been revealed about an acute financial need in the organization.
