Islands have their own human rights watchdog
WILLEMSTAD - Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire have their own 'human rights watchdog' since yesterday. The Human Rights Caribbean Foundation.
The foundation was created by concerned citizens as a result of the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela and the consequences for Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire. The foundation wants to fill in the gap left by the UNHCR. The UN refugee organization can no longer operate in Curaçao.
