Funds available for sport facilities
WILLEMSTAD - In a press release, the government announces that is has made funds available for the maintenance of the four facilities managed by the Curaçao Sports Development Foundation (FDDK).
These are Curaçao Sports Centrum (SDK) in Brievengat, the swimming pool at the Rif Stadium, the multifunctional center in Barber and the sports complex in Suffisant. This is what the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (OWCS) stated following the public meeting in parliament last Monday, in which Minister Marilyn Alcalá-Wallé informed the MPs about the sports policy and the attention to maintenance of the sports fields on the island.
According to the Minister, her Ministry is going to focus on sport and movement in schools, improvement and maintenance of the infrastructure and the promotion of sports tourism. FDDK has received an extra subsidy for the training of seven sports leaders who will work at the schools. In addition, the curriculum of basic education will be evaluated to pay more attention to physical education and a healthy lifestyle.
