Flexible dealing with regulation live music during week Jazz Festival
WILLEMSTAD – Restaurants and bars that want to organize live music in the run-up to North Sea Jazz can apply for a temporary permit. This is according to the Minister of Economic Development Steven Martina. There is also the possibility of exemption. According to the Minister, an event like this should be taken into account and North Sea Jazz is important for the economy. ‘What we want to do is to be able to deal more flexible with the legislation and regulations during that week’.
Last weekend the national dialogue on noise nuisance took place. According to the minister, the meeting went well and there are several spearheads that the government has received and are taking into account in new regulations. For example, the maximum number of decibels is likely to be increased and no building permits will be issued for residential properties in certain areas that are focused on entertainment.
The Nort Sea Jazz Festival starts on August 30: Normally jazz events are organized at various locations on the island. The minister hopes that this will also be the case this year.
