Chinese Consulate General’s Women’s Group visits Unique Learning Center of Curaçao
WILLEMSTAD - The Chinese Consulate General’s women’s group led by Madam Li Jingyan, Consul General Zhang Weixin’s wife, visited Unique Learning Center (ULC), on Tuesday, June 26, 2018.
ULC is a school for children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) that opened its doors in September 2017. ULC was founded to address the pressing need for education and services for individuals with ASD, as well as, other developmental and learning differences in Curaçao.
Last year, the Chinese Consulate donated laptops, headphones, a color printer, and other school materials, to satisfy the needs of the students to do their academic work. This made it possible for ULC to remain focused on its mission and vision, giving the children the education they deserve. Donna van der Dijs, ULC principal and foundation chairman, expressed the school’s gratitude for the donations, which help the school function every day.
Madam Li speaks highly of what ULC has done for the local community, as well as the patience and responsibility of all teachers, interns and volunteers. The Chinese Consulate hopes these digital devices will contribute to students’ education.
The women’s group of the Chinese Consulate brought panda stuffed animals and stationeries as presents for the students during their visit. The panda has become a friendly symbol of the bilateral relationship between the Dutch Kingdom and China as the Netherlands welcomed a pair of pandas from China last year.
