17 Venezuelans escape from old police cells Rio Canario
WILLEMSTAD – Minister Girigorie of Justice asked his Dutch colleague Grapperhaus for facilities and resources to increase the capacity for temporary shelter of arrested illegals. It concerns the temporary shelter of illegal immigrants who are awaiting their deportation. Girigorie already has a location in mind and expects that the expansion of the capacity will take place in about four weeks. The request for assistance with the capacity expansion was made yesterday after 17 illegal Venezuelan men fled from the cells behind the old post at Rio Canario in the early morning.
More and more illegal Venezuelans are arrested. On Saturday, seven undocumented people were picked up at Berg Altena at a Chinese shop. When several police patrols appeared on the spot, several of them tried to run away, but they could not escape. They were all Venezuelans, six men and a woman. They had no papers or invalid documents. The seven were transferred to the Immigration Service and are awaiting their deportation.
